Welcome to our regular guide to Chelmsford Theatre Life – What better way is there to spend an evening than to visit Chelmsford’s West End? With something on offer to suit everyone’s tastes, you can be guaranteed a fun and enjoyable night out. Chelmsford boasts two theatres, the Civic Theatre and Cramphorn Studio, both of which are just a ten minute drive away. By booking with us, here at Channels Lodge, you can turn the evening into a short break, away from all the hassle of everyday life.

There is an abundance of entertainment on offer, ranging from concerts, opera and jazz all the way to plays, comedy and ballet. The hardest part is choosing what to watch! However, we have made it a little bit easier for you by highlighting some of the shows that are coming up in the next few months, giving you enough time to plan your trip away.

Friday 16th September – An Evening of Burlesque

Burlesque is a classic artform that has been around for centuries and has had new life breathed into it in the form of this production, said to be the UK’s biggest. An Evening of Burlesque is onto it’s sixth year of touring and now they are inviting you to come along for the ride and experience the dazzling world of Burlesque.

Friday 23rd September – Sinatra Sequins & Swing

Who doesn’t love a Big Band? Take a night off and listen to a world class 15 piece orchestra perform stunning renditions of famous hits such as Witchcraft, Come Fly With Me, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and Night & Day. Sinatra Sequins & Swing has often been described as a must-see show and we are sure you won’t want to miss out on this.

Saturday 8th October – Romeo & Juliet by Critics Circle Award winning Company, Ballet Cymru

A tale as old as time, Romeo & Juliet is one of Shakespeare’s most widely known masterpieces and it has now been brought to you by the Best Large Scale Dance Production at Wales Theatre Awards 2014. Romeo & Juliet will captivate you with intense fighting, passionate duets and exquisite costumes. There is no other just like it.

Saturday 29th October – Joe Brown

For fans of Joe Brown this will be an absolute treat and an enjoyable night indeed. He will take to the stage, on his own, to tell the tales of his life on the road touring with the likes of Eddie Cochran, Billy Fury and Gene Vincent, as well as  remembering the days of being the opening act for The Beatles. Not only this, but he will be singing a few songs along the way too. This will be a night worth remembering.

Friday 2nd December to Monday 2nd January – Jack and the Beanstalk

This is probably one of the most famous Pantomime’s that caters to everyone in the family, you are guaranteed to laugh and smile at the amazing production that is Jack and the Beanstalk.  This is bound to get you into the festive holiday spirit, with catchy music, dazzling dancing and plenty of humor. What’s not to love?
